The internet is full of all kinds of websites… from the slightly psychotic looking ones to the sites that you just want to visit every day. When doing a website, everyone wants theirs to be the kind that people will keep coming back to and not just for the services offered but also for the eye candy on the site.
Facebook changes their look and programming every couple of months and no matter how annoying people might find it; you wouldn’t want the site looking the way it did when it had just started. Here are a few programming tips for the different businesses;
- Restaurants and Hotels
Move away from just the basic websites that show the food you can make and the parties held at the restaurant or hotel; switch it up to online booking of rooms, tables and orders. The easier you make life for the people visiting your site, the more they will like it. Have the food menu online and even special daily recommendations from the chef. That is surely going to make your restaurant stand out!
- Real Estate Market
When looking through the Real Estate websites, I prefer looking through the ones that have the advanced search engine option. The advanced search engine narrows it down to range in pricing, location, number of bedrooms that the person visiting the site might be looking for; simple and straight to the point. Nobody wants to go to a site and spend a couple of hours trying to narrow down your search MANUALLY.
- E-Commerce
Not too long ago, I was in a situation where I was praying for an online shoe shop, so that I could buy a pair of shoes (or three) in the convenience of my living-room with my laptop which definitely beat walking in the burning hot sun on a Saturday afternoon. So, if you own a shop, why not give your clients the other option of buying your products online? As I said before, making the clients’ life easier is always a plus.
- Showbiz
If you are in the business of music or movies, there is the usual… pictures, listen to a song here, click on this link to watch the video and blog spots but why not raise the bar and give your visitors live streaming? I am a (subtle) groupie for some celebrities out there and any time I get a chance for live streaming on their website… I’m PRESENT!:-) Also, have the YouTube player on your site and move away from having people click on links that open up other windows.
Don’t just be satisfied with the basic, a website that stands out might cost you more but it shall earn you more also.
